Bremen Award for Video Art

Every two years, the Filmbüro Bremen provides a total of 10,000 euros in prize money, divided between at least two projects, for the realisation of video art ideas. The submitted project should therefore preferably require between 3,000 and a maximum of 7,000 euros for realisation. All facets of video art are welcome: classical, (non)linear, audio-visual project ideas, those with installation character as well as ideas that push the borders of media art. Funding is available for projects that have not yet been realised. One of the prizes is reserved for a project from Bremen/project with a connection to Bremen.

Regulations:

Artists from German-speaking countries and the twin cities of Bremen/Bremerhaven are invited to participate. Students are welcome. There is no age limit. The jury will award at least one of the two prizes to applicants from Bremen, Bremerhaven or their twin cities (Besançon, Cherbourg, Dalian, Durban, Frederikshavn, Gdansk, Grimsby, Haifa, Izmir, Kaliningrad, Odesa, Pori, Riga, Szczecin and Windhoek). Submission should be in German, but is also permitted in English. Only one concept can be submitted at a time. The prizes will be awarded by an independent jury of experts.

Submit the following:

The completed application form including a synopsis (max. 3 sentences) and a link to one reference project on the internet (youtube, vimeo, etc. password-protected links are welcome).

In addition, ONE separate PDF file with:

• a detailed description of the project (as text or annotated photo spread, sketch, animation, etc.)
• budget plan for the production (approximate) - Important: Costs for the presentation of the work do NOT have to be included in this budget, which is meant solely for the realisation of the video art project. There will be a small additional budget for the exhibition.
• list of equipment that will be needed for the exhibition of your work (and - if applicable – an installation drawing)
• biography and videography of the artist (summary)

Note: We accept only ONE PDF file per submission, please rename the file with your NAME, the file size must not exceed 5 MB.

The exhibition will take place in the next years summer.
